On Saturday 16 July 2022, around 5:00 p.m., the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon had already carried out six rescue operations, only for hikers.
On board the Dragon 74 civil security helicopter, around 10:20 a.m., the PGHM rescuers went to rescue a woman with a wrist injury in the moraine of the Tour glacier.
According to Le Dauphine, the gendarmes then took the direction of the Col du Bonhomme above the town of Contamines-Montjoie, where a 28-year-old man was taken ill.
At 1:10 a.m., they came to rescue a 60-year-old woman with an ankle injury in Lognan. In the Grands Montets area, then to another women aged 50, suffering from multiple bruises after a heavy fall under the Col de la Terrasse. They were both evacuated to the hospital center of Chamonix.
Around 3:30 p.m. a hiker of around 70 years old fell near Lac Blanc. Victim of head wounds, she was transported to Sallanches hospital.
Around 3:40 p.m., a 50-year-old woman injured her wrist on the path leading to the Bellachat refuge from Merlet. She was airlifted to the Chamonix hospital center.
