Monday 18 July 2022, in the afternoon, a fire suddenly broke out near the Mont-Blanc Express train routes.
A heat wave is currently affecting France. Coupled with droughts, they are one of the vectors of the fires.
The fire disrupted the traffic
Indeed, yesterday Monday 18 July, since 6:00 p.m. at least, traffic has therefore been interrupted between Servoz and the Fayet station in Saint-Gervais.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and were able to quickly bring the blaze under control. However, the fire caused a deformation of the rails, requiring traffic to be stopped.
According to Le Dauphine, the SNCF teams on site hoped to restore the rail traffic for 8:00 p.m. on this line which crosses the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley.
Replacement coaches and taxis were dispatched on site and took care of the travelers disturbed by this incident.
