Towards the end of the afternoon on Saturday, one of the two Dutch climbers fell. The victim was injured in the fall but caught by his climbing partner before serious impact. The injured climber was too shaken to continue climbing or to climb down with the help of his partner. Their cell phones were out of range and they were forced to continue up the route to find a cell network and contact the PGHM. They spent the night on the route, waiting for the rescue helicopter at first light. The PGHM arrived around 6h30 on Sunday morning. The victims were taken immediately to the hospital and were beginning to show signs of frostbite.
