With six new ski lifts this year, the department of Haute-Savoie had decreased its investment in ski lifts for this season. A four-seat chairlift in Chamonix at the Planards, another in Les Houches, a six-seater chairlift in Samoëns, another in Châtel and yet another in Les Carroz... at the end, there are approximately 23 million euros (excluding artificial snow and slopes track work). If we compare with last year (more than 40 million euros), the investment has decreased. But we can't forget that some of last year money was due to the Plan Praz new lift, that costed 20 millions euros. Another reason for this decrease is that some of the Haute Savoie ski resorts preferred to invest this year in their Artificial Snow infrastructures. Praz sur Arly and Chatel, for example, have invested a lot in this area. in this matter, the Haute-Savoie is the region in France that suffers the biggest delay in artificial snow making, with about 16% of the total slopes, against 20% for all the other regions in France.
