Expensive Rescue in the Mont-Blanc

"We're exhausted, help us." This was the message that two Spanish climbers, stuck on the crest of Peuterey Ridge close to Mont Blanc, alerted on Sunday the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue. Because of bad weather, the helicopter could not reach them. Meanwhile due to the cold, hunger and thirst, the two men climb to the summit of Mont Blanc, where they thought it would be easier to rescue them. Big mistake, since the rescue was still flying over the crest of Peuterey to find them and could not see them. The helicopter then passed over the summit and flew towards the Refuge du Gouter, this action helped to locate the two climbers who wee coming down on the French side. They were transported to the Aosta hospital Tuesday morning. Originally from Barcelona, Jordi Lopez and Cesar Diaz Cucala will return home with unforgettable memories of their ascent: A bill of 7000€. The 15 flights needed to rescue the 2 climbers, will cost them the maximum prescribed by the Italian law, 3500€ each. Le Dauphiné
