Deadly avalanche on the Aiguille Verte

Yesterday morning in the glacier ski area of the Grands Montets (in Chamonix), an avalanche of seracs in the Cordier couloir, in the Aiguille Verte, killed two alpinists. This is an area known of high risk and considered dangerous. Two Finnish climbers were swallowed by the avalanche of one hundred meters length. They were hit by the blocks of snow and ice while they were traversing this couloir to reach a mountain route. According to witnesses, the man was completely buried, while his wife was projected into a crevasse. The young woman was injured on her knee, but her companion died.
