On Sunday, the police and emergency services started work early at 9 am. Walkers on the Brévent reported seeing a dead body on the "Charles Bozon" black run, which comes down from the Brévent summit. As yet, not much information is available about the discovery, as the circumstances remain unclear, even though the piste-machine must have passed by the night before. So far it is not known if the body is that of a skier or a hiker, nor is it known what the person was doing on the piste at night. A criminal investigation has been opened. In another drama yesterday, there was an avalanche in the Couloir des Cosmiques under the Aiguille du Midi, below the glacier Rond. A man was swept away from his group of four friends by the avalanche, which broke free around 16hrs on the right bank of the Bossons glacier. Despite the clouds and fog, two EC 145 helicopters from the Gendarmerie and the Sécurité civile managed to fly. The thirty year old man was found dead after a two hour search.
