The town of Les Houches has set up a specific "Ski de randonnée" route for lovers of this sport. Starting in "Les Chavants", the route allows you to climb up to the top of the Prarion gondola using touring skis. Departure altitude is 1012m, arrival 1860m, thus 848m of climb. Starting point next to the Prarion gondola: to the left of the snow bank, near the bus stop. Route description: follow the "Tremble" | Pass above the Ailloud bridge | Cross after the bridge | Climb up to the reservoir | Take the GR5 | Pass the Restaurant Les Vieilles Luges (a small refreshment perhaps?) | Pass the "Carbotte" | Turn right, pass under the cables of the Prarion cable car | Come back left | Cross the track from the Viewpoint | Up the ski drag-lift | Take the summer path, staying on the left along the trail | Continue towards the Prarion hotel / cable car. Be sure to follow the route and follow the signs, red panels (30cm x 12cm).
