Saturday at 12.30pm, a snow slide, overflowing an avalanche barrier, on the path of the Montenvers railway had forced the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc (CMB) to evacuate by helicopter the 100 customers blocked at the arrival station.
The CMB is unable to clear the snow from the trail, because the machine for the snow removal is damaged.
Is dangerous to do it manually, due to warming of the recent days, there is the risk of more avalanches.
The alternative is to repair the machine, but it may take a few days because the replacement piece is not easy to find.
The Montenvers railway will remain closed at least until Wednesday, February 29th.
