More cold-smoking Cham-pagne powder in Chamonix this morning!
After a few sunny days and a great Freeride competition on the weekend, we received between 20 and 30 cms of new snow last night, and it cleared up beautifully this morning, allowing us to see where we were skiing in the fresh snow. I was aiming to ski at Flegere today, with a nice bit of sunshine lighting up the powder, but they had a lot of snow to control on the avalanche-prone slopes there, and were delaying the opening, so I then headed up the valley to the Grands Montets, hoping that the top lift would open.
There was a bit more snow up at the GM than Flegere today, which is not always the case: 30cms on the top lift, and 23 at Lognan. It turned out to be super light and fluffy, not wind-affected at all. There were big grins all around by lunch time, when the sun started poking its head around to the Lognan mid station. It is still pretty quiet around here, and that should be the case for another 2 weeks, before the holidays start, and the weather is set to be sunny for a couple of days now, before some possible more snow heads our way later in the week.
