Well, its been quite a snowy month of January here in the Chamonix valley, hopefully finishing off with another powder day tomorrow, if the forecast that I read is correct...
We made use of the sunny spells in between the clouds yesterday and today, and skied some more deep powder from the Aiguille du Midi (Tuesday), still fresh from Sunday night's snowfall, while today was a nice cruisy day on the slopes of Le Tour.
Today was milder, and windy, especially at Le Tour, and it felt a bit like spring. The groomers were a bit icy, but not really bad, and it wasn't busy. Off-piste was a bit choppy but reasonably smooth and soft. We skied down to Vallorcine through the forest on the winding cat-track piste, and took the comfortable gondola back up, before skiing back to Le Tour village in a patch of sun.
Theres some more snow coming in before the weekend, so hopefully I will be writing the next report from a Flegere powder day on Saturday, but we'll see...
