The lower mountain with lots of snow - arrival of the piste at Bellevue

There is some low pressure heading our way today from the South West, which means foehn wind and clouds with flat light, but the snow is still good, and if you ski in the trees, it is easier to see. I went to see how things were shaping up at Les Houches this afternoon.

There is still tons of snow almost everywhere, and the warm wind shouldn't change that too much on the pistes, despite the lower altitude, as there is a lot of manmade snow in the snowpack. There were quite a few people on the slopes, but the lift lines were fluid, and it was pretty pleasant skiing.

There were some icy sections on the top plateau, just under 2000m, and it was cold there with the wind. The better conditions were on the lower mountain, with some softer corn snow and warmer air. It sure was a nice day for a vin chaud for apres-ski to warm things up!
