Member of PGHM / CNISAG in Fatal Crevasse Fall

A 40 year old male suffered a fatal accident on Saturday 9th March 2013 near Chamonix.


A two man team from CNISAG, (Police National Center for Education of Ski and Mountaineering) the organisation that trains recuits to the PGHM, in Mountain Rescue techniques, was on a glacier close to Le Grand Capuchin in the Mont Blanc mountain range.


The team was preparing an exercise for this week's CNISAG training course, when the lead instructor fell into a crevasse. The other member of the CNISAG called for assistance, but the lead instuctor died from injuries sustained in the fall.
