Its snowing in town again today, big fat flakes for much of the day, which means a whiteout day, but a decent amount of fresh snow up in the mountains!
The sky took its time to clear from the last storm, with the only real clear day being yesterday. Tuesday had the promise of blue sky up high, so we went to the Aiguille du Midi, with the hope of good visibility, but the cloud level was too high, and we spent a few hours just hanging out up there in the sunshine, while the rest of the Chamonix valley was socked in the thick cloud. We finally got to ski from the top yesterday, when the clouds parted, and there were 15-20 centimetres of nice fluffy snow on top of a firm base. Wednesday would have been a great day to ski anywhere in the valley, with the sun out all day.
All of the ski areas in the Chamonix valley are still loaded with snow, and looking great. The sky may be clearing overnight tonight, before the arrival of the next weather front tomorrow, so we might or might not get a window of good visibility tomorrow morning - we'll see.
Here's a video from the last couple of days around Chamonix:
