News Update: The Mont-Blanc Express resumes a partial service on Saturday 29 June 2013, through the Chamonix Valley to Argentiere.
The Mont Blanc Express Railway, that runs between St. Gervais and Martigny, Switzerland is closed during April, May & June of 2013 for major works.
A replacement bus service shall operate with the same departure times from Chamonix. Passengers can expect minor delays over the Col des Montets as the train route is quicker than the road route.
SNCF is performing 4 major renovation projects:
- Chedde near the aerodrome
- Vaudagne to rebuild a section of the train line
- Section between Chamonix and Argentiere
- Section between the tunnel des Montets and Vallorcine - Chatelard. This section will remain closed until December 2013.
