Chamonix Lift System & Ski Area Management Contract Update

In December 2012, the Chamonix Municipality and the Compagnie du Mont Blanc terminated, by mutual agreement, all Lift Operation and Ski Area Management contracts, with the exception of the Aiguille di Midi and Montenvers train.

The Chamonix Municipality invited tenders for the operation of the seasonal lift systems. The 'Crown Jewels' of the Aiguille di Midi and Montenvers, that run all year, continue to be contracted to the Compagnie du Mont Blanc.

Initially, two companies, SEPP, owned by the Hottegindre family and the Compagnie du Mont Blanc, declared an interest to tender offers to operate the ski areas of Brevent - Flegere, Le Tour / Balme and Les Grands Montets.

The closing date for the submission of tenders has passed. No offer was received from SEPP. An offer was received from the Compagnie du Mont Blanc. The elected representatives of the Chamonix Municipality have reviewed the offer made by the Compagnie du Mont Blanc and it's under discussion.

Negotiations between the two parties will commence shortly, with the intention of reaching an agreement by the end of September 2013.
