The Chamois qualify for the final of the Ice Hockey League Cup!
Last night's match against Angers was a close fault battle! Angers brought the advantage of a 4-3 home leg win to the Richard Bozon ice rink in Chamonix. The Chamois buoyed by their recent success, took the game 2-1 at full time. With the aggregate scores equal, the match went into extra-time, with the Chamois coming out victorious by one goal. Final score 3-1, (5-6 on aggregate).
The final is a single match at a neutral venue. The match will held in Meribel on the 2nd of January 2014 against the Dragons de Rouen. Rouen is the dominant team in French ice hockey. They lead the Magnus League, heading for their fifth consecutive title. An exceptional feat! However, in the League Cup, the Dragons have had less success, their last victory being in 2010 when they won the double.
The Chamois have to fancy their chances of taking a surprise victory; a great opportunity to bag some silverware early in the 2013-2014 season.
The Journey to Meribel:
- Chamonix-Meribel: 110 km, 1 hour 56 mins
- Rouen-Meribel: 791 km, 7 hours 17 mins
The Chamois supporters have a duty to pack out the Méribel Ice Palace!!!
