Wednesday, 21 May 2014, round 5pm, a female climber, aged 24, fell 10 meters down the Gailland crag. The victim was immediately evacuated to Sallanches Hospital with suspected head injuries inflicted.
With its many bolted sectors and numerous routes of varied climbing grades all in a convenient setting beside the road, Les Gaillands is a popular place to train or just to hang out with friends. Chamonix's favorite crag, the Gaillands is the perfect natural climbing wall for all the family with lots of easy grades but with something for everyone up to 7b. Generally well protected, gneiss rock and south facing, the place is a must for all visiting climbers.
