New Chamonix Fire Station

The construction of the New Chamonix Fire Departement Station.

Monday, 16 June 2014, part of the elected members of the Haute Savoie General Council, together with the mayor of Chamonix Mont Blanc, officials of the Fire Departement Station, in the presence of MP Sophie Dion and sub-prefect, Francis Bianchi, lay the first stone of the new Chamonix Fire Departement Station.

As the current centre built in 1958 located in the city center on the Place du Mont Blanc is no longer suitable for to the needs of firefighters this relocation is more than necessary.

A 10 million Euro investment is needed to build the new fire station, from which 3 million Euros has come directly from the department's budget. The Fire Department Station will be located next to the Chamonix hospital, on a total of 3 480 m², from a 18 630 m² parcel donated by the Chamonix City Hall.

Site clearing has been completed by the Chamonix City Hall in April 2014. The access to the site is made by a special path through the forest.

The building permit was issued 16 October 2013 and the excavations for the building began in May 2014.

The new fire station should be opened by 2016's first trimester.
