Good news for all ski competition's enthusiasts. Les Houches city council approved the organization of Alpine Skiing World Cup 2016 on February 20, on La Verte ski piste.
Wednesday, 05 Nov 2014, after a hard day, the city council of Les Houches said "Yes" for the organisation of Kandahar 2016.
The council members decided as follows: 14 votes in favour of approving the 2016 competition, 6 votes against and 3 abstentions.
Those who voted against, declared that they were against the proposed date, 20th Feb 2016 (a date when Les Houches is generally full with tourists), and not against the whole idea of hosting the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Three weeks ago, concerns have been raised over tourist's security on La Verte ski piste. This slope which is usually used by tourists would be unavailable before and during the competition.
Once approved by the municipal council of Les Houches, the organisation of 2016 Alpine Skiing World Cup must be validated by FIS (International Ski Federation).
