A new bar has opened up in Chamonix, which is also our new Jazz Club!
In association with the Cosmojazz organiser, André Manoukian, the old Tournette Villa in the park behind the casino is now fully alive once again, after being empty for many years. Opening day was last Saturday, and the style is a 1920s atmosphere, echoing the time in which it was originally built.
Called "La Maison des Artistes", it also has a recording studio for visiting musicians downstairs, which is a major focus, with a new record label "Mad in Chamonix".
It is open every day from Noon until 1am (except Mondays, when it opens a bit later at 4pm), with live concerts every few days, and you may catch a jam session or musician practice session any time on the main stage. This is really cool, as this is one thing that has been missing from Chamonix, except for the once-a-year Cosmojazz festival.
