Chamonix, the alpine sports capital hosted this weekend at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, the first stop of the 2015 IFSC Lead World Cup Series with a dual Lead and Speed.
The weather was glorious this weekend in Chamonix. And, as the organisers promised us, this great festival was a huge source of adrenaline.
More than 20 000 people witnessed to some incredible performances.
In the men’s category, Ramón Julian Puigblanque of Spain took gold, thus, sending the public favourite, Adam Ond, on second position. The German Sebastian Halenke took bronze.
The women’s competition saw incredible performances from the Slovenian team. Both Mina Markovic and Janja Gambr topped the route, followed by Jessica Pilz (AUT).
Among the highlights of speed competition, we mention Iuliia Kaplina's performance, by breaking her previous World Record by 0.03s and establishing a new World Record at 7:53s. Yet, her performance was not good enough for the local favourite Anouck Jaub, who was much more faster and took gold.
In the men’s field, Libor Hroza (CZE) secured gold against Danyil Boldyrev (UKR). Qixin Zhong (CHN) took the bronze after a solid performance during the small final.
What a night in Chamonix! Congratulations to all competitors!
