Road work ahead! Mairie Chamonix-Mont-Blanc announced new road work in September 2015. The main Chamonix's street Michael Croz, leading towards the train station, is to become semi-pedestrian this winter.
Following the press release published this week, the road work is set to start on September 7th, including:
- reducing the traffic lane and increasing the pedestrian area;
- widening the pavements and terraces for local businesses;
- getting rid of parking bays along the street.
In addition, between Gare SNCF - Rue Whymper, a bike lane will also be created.
The road work is scheduled for almost 2,5 moths. During this period, the access to shops remains available, excepting 2 days, time required for the laying and drying of concrete on sidewalks.
