Wednesday morning, 13 April the committee of the Hockey Club of Morzine-Avoriaz, Les Gets officially announced on their website the merger with the Chamonix Hockey Club. A new club has been formed. The name has not yet been made public, but we understand that the articles have been deposited at the Chamber of the Commerce in Annecy.
The Penguins of the HCMAG of Morzine and the Chamois of Chamonix Hockey Club decided to form together a big Savoyard hockey club, capable of playing a leading role in the next season 2016-2017 of Magnus League. The new club has been validated by the FFHG, and the club's structure will be formally implemented on 1 May 2016.
The details of the new club (name, logo, staff, organization) will be given during a press conference in the coming days.

- the home matches will alternate between Chamonix and Morzine;
- estimated budget: 1,5 million euro;
- creation of a new SASP (Anonymous Sportive Professional Society);
- 15 shareholders;
- 10 directors from the Association Morzine-Avoriaz, Les Gets Hockey Club and the Club des Sports Chamonix.
Gilles Hurtier, Vice-president of Chamonix HC announced on Radio Mont Blanc this morning, Friday 15 April the main reason of this hockey merger is the new requirements set by the FFHG.
Also, he ensures that :
- the matches will be split 50/50 between Morzine and Chamonix patinoires;
- the new hockey club will have a different vision with a new name, a new mascot for the team and a new colour;
- the trainings will take place at the Chamonix's ice rink Richard Bozon because the Morzine's ice rink is smaller;
- the Coach of this new hockey club will be Stéphane Gros, currently the coach of the Chamonix HC. Stéphane knows both clubs very well. For the last two seasons he was the coach of the Chamonix Club and before that he was the coach of the Hockey Club of Morzine-Avoriaz for 7 years.
A new club for the Haute-Savoie based in Chamonix will be a major force in the Magnus Ligue!
