According to Radio Mont Blanc, the start date of FWT 2017 competition is postponed because the Brevent ski area is impracticable.
Julien Hess, the director of Freeride World Tour announced that, "For the moment, there will be no competition on Saturday 28 JAN 2017, that's for sure".
"We have the snow that we have, maybe it is not enough today, to do freeride because of the weather conditions. We looked for other options in the Chamonix valley and also near the valley, around Mont-Blanc region. For the moment, we have not yet found something that works, in terms of security, to confirm the start of the competition."
"On the other hand, we keep an eye open for certain options, so we aim for the first day of competition on Sunday 29 JAN 2017. Of course, two major factors are the weather and the ski area. A ski area that works, and is safe, and then the other factor is the weather." added the director.
The weather forecast for Saturday is very cloudy, but, unfortunately, no snowfall.
This afternoon/evening (Friday 27 Jan) we anticipate confirmation of the new start date of the FWT.
