For the first time since his last victory in 2011, Kilian Jornet, the triple winner of the 2008, 2009 and 2011 editions, will return to Chamonix for the UTMB.
According to Le Dauphine, the Spanish professional sportsman will participate this year at the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.
Considered one of the greatest runners in the mountains, Kilian Jornet is sometimes nicknamed "the alien of the trail" due to its exceptional physical abilities. He is a six-time champion of the long-distance running Skyrunner World Series and has won some of the most prestigious ultramarathons, including Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, Grand Raid, the Western States Endurance Run and the Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run.
So there will be a giant battle this year! Kilian Jornet will compete against the two previous winners of the UTMB, Xavier Thevenard winner of the 2013 and 2015 edition and François d'Haene winner of the 2012 and 2014 edition.
Also, the holder of the title, Ludovic Pommeret, is already registered at the UTMB 2017 on the CCC (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix).
The UTMB 2017 is to take place from 28th August to 3rd September
in Chamonix Mont-Blanc
