Friday 7th July 2017, in the evening, a fire started at the restaurant of the Tennis courts in Chamonix, after the ignition of a brazier.
In fact, the flames quickly spread to the roof of the restaurant causing the release a dense smoke, seriously injuring the cook and causing serious damage to property.
25 firefighters from Chamonix, Les Houches, Passy and Sallanches were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
According to Le Dauphine, the cook of the restaurant, also co-manager, started to light a brazier at the back of the building. He was then severely burned on the upper body.
The man was taken in charge by the Smur of the Hospital Centre Alpes Léman, before being transferred quickly to the burn care center of Lyon.
All the customers eating outside, on the terrace and the restaurant staff were quickly evacuated. Fortunately the accident did not make another victim.
The restaurant will remain closed until further notice.

The Town Hall of Chamonix, the current owner, offered his support for the injured cook and the managers, and announced that a meeting will be organized at the beginning of this week in town hall to consider the follow-up of the activity.
