Thursday 3rd August 2017, the elected representatives of the Community of Communes of the Chamonix valley and Transdev Rhône-Alpes Interurbain company, in collaboration with One Blip, officially launched Les Ponettes (The Ponies), a CarSharing service with three 100% electric 2-seater cars.
Made in France, Les Ponettes are small modular vehicles, developed by XYT and specially designed for CarSharing.
According to Radio Mont Blanc, the 3 electric vehicles in self-sharing are called Louise, Emilie and Marguerite and you can test one of them during the month of August and September.
You can take them from a central pick-up and drop-off point near Place Mont Blanc in Chamonix and near Place de la Mairie in Les Houches.
This new CarSharing service allows users to borrow one of the three electric cars and travel for 100 kilometres without needing a re-charge. It costs €7 an hour and after the first hour you're charged by the minute.
The system operates through a free and secured mobile application that allows you to reserve, open and close the vehicle, using an embedded electronic system in the car.
This CarSharing service is an innovative way to travel for residents and tourists in and around Chamonix.
Note: the borrower must be the driver. You must have a driver's license for at least 3 years.

This is currently a test, at the end of September we will know if the service will also be available in winter.

How does it work?
The driver must be at least 21 years old.
Register
Download for free OneBlip app on your smartphone 4 days before you depart to Chamonix.
Register as a new user, create an account and join the Ponettes CarSharing platform:
1. Sign in to your Paypal account or create a free Paypal account. Your Paypal account (email address) must be the same than the one used to create your OneBlip account.
2. In the ToolBox, click on "Endorsements" and make a request by entering th email address: ponettes@oneblip.com. You will be accepted within 2 working days.
3. Now you can start sharing cars in Chamonix. Look for a car and follow the steps. To take advantage of a voucher, go to the Toolbox and click on "Promotions"

Pick up
4. You've booked a Ponette. You have one hour to start using it. Beyond that, your booking will be canceled.
You can only rent a Ponette for 12 consecutive hours. Beyond that, a penalty will be charged.
5. To start your booking scan the QR Code on the windscreen.
6. Open the Panette with your smarthphone. You will find the key in the glovebox.
Before driving, get the car condition factsheet in the glovebox. Follow the instructions and if you've noticed any damages, please email us a photo of this factsheet at ponettes@oneblip.com.
Return
7. Return the car to its parking place located Place du Mont Blanc. If you end your booking at another location you will be charged a penality.
8. Don't forget to put the key back in the glovebox, reconnect the car and scan the QR Code to end your booking.
