Saturday 2nd December 2017, Jean-Claude Charlet, High Mountain Guide and former president of the Compagnie des guides de Chamonix died at the age of 64.
According to Radio Mont Blanc, Jean-Claude Charlet presided the Compagnie des guides twice: between 1990 and 1994 and from 2015 to 2016.
Last year, he had to step down from his position due to ill health.
Jean-Claude Charlet was also engaged in politics: in 2002, he climbed the Aiguille de la République to protest against the accession of Jean-Marie Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election.
His funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday 5th December 2017 at the Argentiere church.
