Thursday 14 December, last update 11:35am: The D1506 road over the Col des Montets will close today, Thursday 14th December, at 11:30am.
Traffic information 14 Dec 2017:
Due to the closure of the Col des Montets, the bus replacement service between Vallorcine and Montroc is suspended.
Rail traffic is maintained between Montroc and St Gervais.
Update at 9:00am: a replacement shuttle service between Vallorcine and Argentière (with stop at Le Buet) will be in place from 09:38, with departure from Vallorcine.
Due to a failure of snow plow at 5:40am during the snow removal operations (hydraulic cable was torn), snow removal between Montroc and Vallorcine could not be done. Railway traffic is interrupted on this sector until further notice.
The teams are mobilized to repair the snow plow and put it back into service.

Wednesday 13 December, last update: The route D1506 over the Col des Montets (1461m), between Chamonix and Vallorcine, will open to traffic today Wednesday 13th December 2017, at 4pm.
Reopening of Mont Blanc Express trains. After the snow removal operations and breakdowns. Railway trains are now running again on the entire route.
The D1506 road over the Col des Montets is closed since Sunday 10 December 2017, at 2pm, due to the big snow falls and high risk of avalanche.
Last update on Monday 11 December 2017: According to Le Dauphine, to travel to Vallorcine from Chamonix on D1506 road is impossible, the closure is being maintained.
Some avalanche defense activities were made in the morning and the Safety Commission of Chamonix is waiting to see the evolution of the situation (thaw then new disturbances announced in the afternoon) to consider a reopening.
In the meantime, access is possible via the railway (and road) tunnel, which is open to traffic. Passage through the tunnel is regulated by an automated barrier ensuring 100m separation between vehicles. Check the safety rules of the the Tunnel des Montets
Traffic information 11 Dec 2017:
- The Mont-Blanc Express is interrupted between Chamonix and Le Châtelard. Snow removal operations are underway.
- The Mont-Blanc tunnel was temporarily closed to traffic around 7 am to allow, again, preventative avalanche triggering but traffic is now fluid.
