Last update on Tuesday 10 April 2018: Charamillon cable is open again with a safety device (check on everyday). The ski touring itinerary is closed.
According to La Chamoniarde, the area between Le Tour and Charamillon is closed to all activities Monday 9th April 2018 due to the high risk of avalanche.
The mountain rescue organization announced on its Facebook page that this closure concerns: the hiking route, the Charamillon gondola (from the village of Le Tour, on the Chamonix side) and the Caisets piste.
The reason for this closure: a huge slab of 80m wide and 3m deep is about to slide down.
However, the upper part of the Balme resort is accessible from Vallorcine.
