COVID-19: Ski Areas & Lifts in Chamonix Valley remain open

During their latest press-release on 8 March 2020, The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc has announced that all their ski areas & lifts would remain open.

Several hygiene measures are undertaken to protect all visitors & staff members from the spread of COVID-19.

The Italian regional government has decided to close all ski area facilities and ski lifts of the Aosta Valley, as of March 9 and until further notice.

Ski areas & lifts of Chamonix Valley remain open

"We are aware that the situation of the Coronavirus “Covid-19” is cause for concern and worry. The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, with the efforts of its teams, is mobilized to ensure the safety and comfort of its visitors", declared the CMB in their latest press-release.

Several measures have been implemented to protect visitors and employees:

  • Regular cleaning of cable-cars, gondolas and trains (Montenvers/Tramway du Mont-Blanc);
  • Ventilation of all ski lift installations;
  • Systematic use by staff of hydroalcoholic gels.

This prevention system will be reinforced, if necessary, over the next few days. 

Aosta Valley closes as of 9 March 2020

Heavily affected by the coronavirus, Italy decided to close all ski areas in the Aosta Valley from 9 March.

An extraordinary meeting of the Regional Council was held on 8 March, to analyze the evolution of the health situation following the new decree of the National Government on measures to combat and limit the spread of COVID-19.

Moreover, the Casino de la Vallée, libraries, museums are also closed. 

"We also wish to inform the holders of Mont Blanc Unlimited ski passes that following the decision of the Italian regional government (majority shareholder of the ski areas as well as the Skyway), the ski area facilities and ski lifts of the Aosta valley will be closing as of Monday, March 9 and until further notice', concludes the CMB their press-release.
