Mont Blanc: fatal fall for English skier at La Flégère

On Saturday 12 March 2022, a 35-year-old English skier has died after a fatal fall whilst skiing off-piste in the Flégère ski area.

 

This Saturday, shortly before noon, the man was skiing with a friend in an off-piste area of ​​the Flégère ski area. Around 11:25 a.m., his friend lost sight of him and alerted the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).

According to Le Dauphiné, the Dragon 74 helicopter took off quickly, with a doctor and two gendarmes rescuers on board.

The skier was found unresponsive at the foot of a rocky bar, after falling about 25 meters. Despite several attempts to resuscitate him, the victim was declared dead by the emergency doctor.

The skier's friend was taken care of by the rescue team. He is unharmed but very shocked by the events.

An investigation has been opened by the Chamonix PGHM to determine the circumstances of this tragic accident.
