Mont-Blanc: four rescues for Dragon 74

On Monday 14 March 2022, due to the unavailability of Choucas helicopter in Chamonix, the civil security Dragon 74 helicopter based in Annecy carried out its first rescues on the Mont-Blanc massif.

The day started at 11 a.m. in the Vallée Blanche to take care of a 70 year-old skier, a client of a mountain guide who fell into a crevasse. Luckily he emerged unscathed. However, he could not continue his ski descent and was taken over by the Dragon 74 to be dropped off at the helicopter base.

Around 12:30 p.m., rescuers intervened at Grands Montets to rescue a 30 year-old skier who had suffered a heavy fall. Suffering from chest trauma, the skier was evacuated by air to Annecy hospital.

Then Dragon 74 helicopter took the direction of Semnoz at around 3 p.m. to rescue a skier who suffered a dislocated shoulder after a fall on the piste. His shoulder was put back in place after medical manipulation and the man was left in place.

Finally the day ended around 5 p.m. in Cusy, with the care of a 70 year-old hiker, injured in the ankle after a fall on a path. The civil security helicopter evacuated him to Annecy hospital.
