Six technically stranded climbers spend the night in the Gervasutti pillar at Mont Blanc du Tacul

Monday July 15 at 7 a.m., the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) rescued six mountaineers who had spent the night in the Gervasutti pillar, at Mont Blanc du Tacul.

Stuck in delicate terrain, the group found itself unable to continue its ascent without being able to retreat.

An itinerary which also seems to be very strongly impacted by climate change, making its mixed sections increasingly dangerous. Unharmed, the mountaineers were evacuated to the DZ des Bois with the help of the Choucas 74 helicopter.

Other Interventions for the PGHM Chamonix on the same day

Another technically blocked rope party was taken care of at the Aiguille de Toule.

The PGHM also intervened this Monday to help four panicked mountaineers in the descent of the normal route of Mont Blanc du Tacul.  A suffering man acute mountain sickness and hikers suffering from ankle injuries also mobilized the emergency police.
