On Wednesday 23rd January 2013 at 3pm the annual winter inauguration of the biggest natural ice rink of France in Chamonix took place.
Each winter, the athletic track is turned into an ice rink: the inauguration is a formal event in the presence of locally elected officials.
This is followed with demonstrations of figure skating and hockey from the youth section of Club des Sports.
From 24th January 2013 until the end of the winter season, the Natural Ice Rink opens every day, at the same time as the covered rink, from 2pm to 5pm.
Admission is free, only skate rental is charged. Hat and gloves are highly recommended.
