It took a while, but now its snowing again, with a big snowstorm cycle just like we love here in Chamonix.
It seems that it snowed more on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, as the storm has come from the South West, but today was a deep powder day in the fog on the Grands Montets, with everything open except the top lift. The wind had abated since last night, which meant that it wasn't so cold on the Herse chairlift. By the time that we got up to the Bochard, there was about a foot of new snow, fluffy and creamy. You could kind-of feel the solid base underneath, especially where there are moguls, but it let me fly over the bumps, and it really felt like flying, and it is still snowing more today.
Of course, there are other ski areas in the Chamonix valley to ski at on a storm day, with most lifts open today, but I find that the Grands Montets pulls me back time and time again!
