It's amazing how the Scandinavian work tools have tendency to become recreational equipment here in France... After the skiing and the snowshoeing, here comes the shörekjöring to distract our winters. It all started in the North of Europe nearly 4 500 years ago, as a simple way of transportation. And to make it more easy to pronounce we changed the name to "skiing joëring". This sport is still new as a hobby, but you can already practice it here in the Chamonix Valley. Christopher Andrew, high mountain guide, decided in 2006 to invest in this activity. He owns his own horses and he offers his services - and those of Karine Cabelduc, ski joëring qualified instructor. It's clear that the ski joëring is a funny sport, and the riders who have tested it liked this very special feeling, of being pulled behind a horse on skis. It's very simple, you just need a horse, a harness, a pair of skis.... and the pleasure is all there!!! For the curious, a baptism is always offered, but soon the pleasure takes over. Day or evening sessions are scheduled and if you're looking for some adrenalin we can always propose the slalom, speed and other races in parallel are possible!
