Since Monday, the commune of St Gervais has warned people against climbing Mont Blanc via the "Voie Royale", which passes through the Couloir du Goûter. This is due to recent landslides in the couloir, one of which included large falling blocks of rock. The state of the couloir was then checked by official French state inspectors, to assess the level of the problem. Their conclusions have now been passed to the Mayor of St Gervais. St Gervais Marie has already forbidden bivouacing at Tête Rousse by passing a new bylaw last Monday, which is still in effect.
