On Wednesday, July 23, 2009, the Chamonix PGHM Mountain Police received a call for help from a mobile phone. Making the call: Bivord Claude, a 77 year old Belgian doctor, out walking in the "Aiguilles Rouge" near Vallorcine. He informed the rescuers that he had suffered a leg injury, but coudn't tell them exactly where he was. A 9km radius rescue zone was searched around "Le Tour", but it was impossible to find the victim. Yesterday, a hunter in pursuit of a Chamois in the Loriaz valley in the Tre-les-Eaux area (upstream from Vallorcine), discovered the bones. Rescuers then made the connection with the disappearance of the Belgium walker, 2 years before.
