Notice from the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, Chamonix, June 20th, 2012
This summer, the renovation of the summit area of the Aiguille du Midi continues with the second phase of construction which involves preparing the summit covered walkway.
As of Tuesday 19th of June, an operation to clear snow on the passage between the Rebuffat terrace and the Mont Blanc Aile will be in effect. This operation will take place in several stages and will last until mid-October, alternating with reinforcement work of the rock face.
This operation could possibly cause rock and ice falls onto the Cosmiques route.
Nets will be set up to indicate and secure the affected area between the Rebuffat route and the Eperon des Cosmiques.
We advise all mountaineers to be very vigilant when approaching this area.
Thank you for your understanding.
