David Lucas will run the Marathon du Mont Blanc for charity

David Lucas, who lives in Chamonix and works for an estate agent in the Chamonix Valley, will run the Marathon du Mont Blanc for charity. Here's his message: As some, but by no means all of you will be aware in 2 days time I will be running the Marathon du Mont Blanc, for the charity Help For Heroes. I served for a number of years with the British Army and so this charity is very important to me as it is to all serving and former members of the Armed Forces, their families and friends. This is even more poignant at the moment as my Regiment, The Grenadier Guards, is currently on active service in Afghanistan. My aim is to run the Marathon in a similar way to Infantry training runs, which involves carrying a 20kg/44lb pack. As many of you will know the marathon is held over alpine tracks and trails and and involves ascents and descents of many thousands of feet.
