The Vallée Blanche Ridge opened for the 2016 season on Friday, 22 of January. The ridge is equipped with two fixed ropes for an easier and safer descent.
The distance between the two ropes is wide enough to allow a simultaneous descent of two groups, one on the left, another one on the right side. This way, everyone should have a quicker descent. Now that the ridge is open, there is access to ski and snowboard through the Vallée Blanche. But take great care, because there are many large crevasses and depending on the conditions that might be a high risk of avalanche.
The Requin hut and the Mottets buvette are open.
At the beginning of February, it is anticipated that the alternative "Z" route from the Aiguille du Midi will be installed into the north face allowing even more people to access the Vallée Blanche quickly and safely.
