Yesterday 19 July 2018, was another busy day for the Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM), with multiple interventions.
Three mountaineers trapped by the storms of the night were saved from Pointe Walker (Grandes Jorasses), the Col du Nant Blanc and the Aiguille du Fou. Without injuries, they were brought to the DZ des Bois.
But the most important intervention of the day took place at the end of the morning when a mountaineer had a big fall at the Col des Aiguilles Crochues. The victim was seriously injured and transported to the hospital of Sallanches with the helicopter. But his condition was too serious so he was sent to the Annecy hospital.
Also, in the afternoon a 70-year-old woman slipped on a firn and got slightly injured. She was therefore transported to the Sallanches hospital.
In Brévent another mountaineer suffered a major fall causing him a traumatic brain injury, he was also taken to the Sallanches hospital.
Later in the afternoon another victim of the storm in Petit Dru was transported by the PGHM at the hospital.
We advise mountaineers to be careful and to hire a High Mountain Guide.
