Sat 30 Nov and Sun 1 Dec 2013, the BEAL French Open Lead Climbing 2013 takes place in Chamonix at l'ENSA.
This competition is part of the France de Difficulté 2014. It is also called the BEAL French Cup as BEAL is an official partner of the FFME (la Fédération Française de la Montagne et de l'Escalade).
Beal is the world leader in climbing and security ropes. It devotes a good part of the promotion budget to sponsoring stars of the climbing and mountaineering world. Most of the leading lights of climbing form part of the "Beal Team".
For the French Open Lead Climbing 2013, BEAL supports Julia Chanourdie, a climbing rising star with great rankings in the 2013 climbing season. She won 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
In July 2013, she finished 15th at the European Senior Championship in Argentiere, Chamonix. Now she's coming back to Chamonix and she is in great shape! Read more about her rankings on her blog.
The categories open to this competition are: Benjamin (12-13 years), Minime (14-15 years), Cadet (16-17 years), Junior (18-19 years), Senior ( 20 years +) and Vétéran (40 years+).
For each category there is a limit of 50 participants.
Registration is open by 24 Nov 2013, for members of the FFME. Thus arrises the question: is it really an open competition?
