Monday evening 29th January 2018, the committee of the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix met to choose their new president.
According to Le Dauphine, David Ravanel was elected president of the Compagnie des guides de Chamonix and succeeds Jean-Philippe Monet after a short term of one year.
A second term for David Ravanel
Mountain Counsellor of the prefect of Haute-Savoie, David Ravanel had already chaired this Chamoniarde institution (first term from January 2013 to December 2015).
After a modification of the statutes, he will be committed for a period of three years.
Founded in 1821, the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix is the oldest and largest association of guides in the world, currently gathering over two hundred and forty independent workers: High Mountain Guides and Mountain Guides. Its vocation is to enable its customers to live a human and sporting adventure in the mountains by guaranteeing them the appropriate safety standards.
The association is based in Chamonix, but also has offices in Argentière and Les Houches.
