Ice Hockey: The Chamonix-Morzine Hockey Club relegated to D1

Friday evening 10th March 2017, the Chamonix-Morzine Hockey Club lost against the Black Star of Strasbourg "Étoile Noire de Strasbourg" (5-1), during the 4th day of Poule de Maintien of the Saxoprint Magnus League.

The Haut-Savoyards were not able to take their revenge against Strasbourg, who had already beaten them last Tuesday (3-1).

According to Le Dauphine, the Haut-Savoyard club has a series of eight defeats on its last nine matches. So, ranked 12th in the Magnus League ranking, the Pioneers are now officially relegated to Division 1.

The Pioneers still have two matches of the Poule de Maintien to play: one away, in Nice, on Tuesday 14th March and then the other one at home with the reception of Dijon, next Tuesday 21st March, at the Richard Bozon Ice Rink in Chamonix but there will be nothing to do, it's over! The Pioneers will not play in next season of the Saxoprint Magnus League.

The last time Chamonix was relegated was 18 years ago. The club was down for just one season. Let's hope that Chamonix is promoted at the end of the next season, ready for the 2018-2019 Magnus League.
