Update Friday 19th January 2018, the Col de la Forclaz will remain closed until March 2018.
According to Le nouvelliste.ch, work is needed to clean up the area where the landslides are obstructing the route pass. Therefore the road is to remain closed through February.
The Forclaz alpine road pass, closed due to a rockfall on 13th January 2018, will remain cut until early March, said the cantonal geologist Raphael Mayoraz.
Raphaël Mayoraz explained, "We have to clean up the area, hundreds of tonnes of loose rock still threaten the road below".
"This will have to be cleared via a combination of drilling and explosives, a process that will take several weeks. The road is not expected to open until around 5th March", added the cantonal geologist.
