Col des Montets still closed 8 March 2017

Last update 2:30pm: The route D1506 over the Col des Montets (1461m), between Chamonix and Vallorcine, will open to traffic today Wednesday 8th March 2017, at 4pm.

Last update 10am: The resumption of traffic between St Gervais and Vallorcine.

The Vallorcine - Le Châtelard sector is closed due to trees on the track.

Attention! The Col des Montets is still closed, the authorities may ask the opening of the Col des Montets Tunnel between 12:55pm and 14:15pm, so cancellation of trains 18913 and 18918 between Montroc and Vallorcine.

Last update on Wednesday 8th March 2017. The Col des Montets is still closed due to high risk of avalanche.

Following a meeting of the safety committee on 7 March, at 6pm, the route D1506 over the Col des Montets (1461m) remains closed until further notice.

Traffic information 8 March:

  • Last update. The road from Argentière to Vallorcine (D1506) that passes over the Col des Montets opened at 9am. Bus Service: all the buses to Le Tour operates with a normal service.

Wednesday 8th March: the Mont-Blanc Express train returns with a partial service.

Train 18902, which normally departs from Vallorcine at 6:38am will not depart from Vallorcine. 

Instead Train 18902 will depart from Argentière at 6:54am, arriving in Chamonix at 7:12am and in Le Fayet - St. Gervais at 7:57am.

Bus Service. The 6:38am bus from Vallorcine to Argentière is cancelled.

SNCF: train 18904 which departs from Vallorcine at 7:08am operates with a normal service.
