According to a press release of 1st August 2017 issued by Mont-Blanc Natural Resort, the lifts operator Compagnie du Mont Blanc announced that the Balme area (Tour & Vallorcine) will be closing on Sunday 17th September 2017, instead of 24th September as originally scheduled.
After a technical evaluation, part of the Charamillon lift needs to be taken away for maintenance before the opening of the winter season : replacement of bearings, gears, adjustments.
In summer, the Charamillon lift is open with the Autannes chair lift to access the hiking trails up to the Col de Balme and the Albert 1er Hut.
The Autannes chair lift will close on 17th September, while the Vallorcine gondola will already be closed (closure scheduled on 3rd September 2017).
